Nomadic MILK

The project will realize a colorful sand drawing on the ground, visualizing the variety of dairy transports that takes place throughout Nigeria. The sand drawing will be based on actual GPS (Global Positioning System) recordings, which the NomadicMILK team plans to collect in close collaboration with dairy transporters in Nigeria, both Fulani cattle owners and people involved in the distribution of condensed milk and powder milk. Besides the sand drawing (that will be executed in differed places all over the world) the project will result in a poetic film that will tell the story of the landscape, people, economy and mobility behind the sand drawing.

quick help

  • Editing a page: each page has a tab called "edit" in the top of the page. Click it and you find an edit field at the bottom of the page. Press "save" when finished, or have a preview to make sure it looks OK.
  • Creating new page: type in name in search field. The page of course does not yet exist, but now the wiki asks whether you want to create it.
  • Uploading files: http://beelddiktee.nl/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Upload'; or type in the search bar "Special:upload"; or use the link left in the menu "toolbox"; or use the shortcut <ctrl + u>.
  • Editing the left menu: http://beelddiktee.nl/wiki/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Sidebar; or type in the search-bar "MediaWiki:Sidebar". You have to be logged as administrator to edit this menu!!!
  • Adding a new user: this wiki has some extra code added to protect it from registering new users. In order to add a new user you have to log into the webhost via FTP (ftp.dds.nl) with the administrative credentials. Go to the map wiki and open the file LocalSettings.php with a text editor. Scroll all the way down to the part where I've written mijn toevoeging, om de wiki private te maken - michiel and comment out all lines that do not start with # (so temporarily place a # in front of every line of code that does not already have # in front of it). You can now register a new user. Don't forget to uncomment these lines when you're done in order to make the wiki private again!!!
